Dr. Jerry E. Giger, Director of the Malone College Chorale, is professor of music at Malone College.? ?In this capacity, he conducts the College Chorale, Chapel choir, as well as the Chamber Singers, a small ensemble from the larger Malone College Chorale.???Other duties include applied voice, Choral and Vocal Methods, and Choral Conducting.

A graduate of Seattle Pacific University, Dr. Giger also holds a doctoral degree from Arizona State University where he studied with Dr. Douglas McEwen.??Further post- doctoral studies have been taken at Oberlin College of Ohio under Richard Miller nationally renowned vocal master teacher and coach and at Concordia College with RenČ Clausen.

Prior to Malone College, Dr. Giger was Department Chair at Dodge City Community College and Taylor University in Indiana, where he directed the Chamber Choir that traveled coast to coast and throughout the Midwest.??While teaching secondary choral music in Arizona, his choirs were chosen to perform at Regional MENC and ADCA conventions and won numerous honors in the Mountain States Choral Festival.?

In 1998, Dr. Giger was appointed ACDA Southwestern Region Repertoire and Standards Chair for Community Choirs.??As a clinician and adjudicator, Presently he serves on the conference planning committee for the Central Division of ACDA .? Dr. Giger has served in Arizona, California, Nebraska, Wyoming, Missouri, Indiana, Kansas, and Ohio. Recognized as a builder of choirs, he strives to instill technical skill and musicianship in the choral student.??He brings forth the aesthetic qualities of music and communicates his deep love of choral music and expressive singing to his choirs.?

His professional affiliations include the American Choral Directors Association,?Ohio Music Education Association,?Music Educators National Conference, and National Association of Teachers of Singing.??He is also a member of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.?Since coming to Canton, Ohio he has been appointed to the board of the Canton Civic Opera Association.? Dr. Giger's community activities include singing in the Christ Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir and VOCI (Voices of Canton Inc.)
