Dr. Neal McMullian is a Professor of Music at Olivet Nazarene University. He earned the Bachelor of Music Education (BME) and Master of Music Education (MME) degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Music Education from the University of Georgia. His primary teachers include Dr. Donald Munsell (Bassoon) and Dr. William Davis (Bassoon), Dr. Joe Barry Mullins (Conducting), and Mr. Albert Ligotti (Conducting). Dr. McMullian is the conductor of the Olivet Concert Band and the ONU Tiger Marching Band. His duties at Olivet include teaching Marching Band Techniques, Instrumentation, Woodwind Methods, Brass Methods, Percussion Methods, Instrumental Literature and Conducting, Applied Bassoon, and World Music, and supervising of student teachers.

Prior to coming to Olivet, Dr. McMullian was the Chair of the Fine Arts Department and Director of Bands at Malone College in Canton, Ohio. During his 10 years at Malone, he initiated the band program. The program grew to include the Wind Ensemble, the Symphonic Band, the Pioneer Spirit Marching Band, the Pioneer Pep Band, the Jazz Band, the String Ensemble, and numerous chamber groups. He taught conducting, music education, music history, music theory, marching band techniques, and other courses at Malone.

McMullian's experience also includes 10 years of teaching in the public schools in Mississippi and Georgia. His assignments included elementary and secondary teaching in rural, suburban, and inner city schools. He is a member of Illinois Music Educators Association, College Band Directors National Association, National Band Association, the International Double Reed Society.
