RTS Symphony Orchestra

The Symphony Orchestra of Radio Television of Serbia is one of the most significant music institutions in Serbia. Founded in 1937, it had its first conductors among the founders themselves, Dr.Vojislav VuckoviÊ and Mihajlo Vukdragovic.

Among the conductors who achieved great creations with this artistic ensemble performing the greatest and the most famous pieces of the music literature were: Igor Markevich, Zubin Mehta, Eleazar Karvayo, Efren Kurtz, Jean Pierre Jacquya, Ogan Durjan, Friedrich Zaun, Vladimir Fedosejev, Maurizio Arena, Mikis Theodorakis, Alexander Apolin, Milen Nachev and others.Naturally the exceptional cooperation was achieved with chief-conductors of orchestras,to be mentioned but a few:Mladen Jagust,Vanca Cavdarski and Bojan Sudjic.Eminent artists from all over the world, from Japan, Mexico, Brazil, USA, Europe to Ceylon performed as soloists with this orchestra before the audience which filled the largest concert halls – Antonio Janigro, Henrik Shering,Uto Ughi,Ilya Grubert, Andre Navarra, David Oystrach, Hermann Baumann, Vladimir Ashkenazi, Michael Rabin, Christian Feras, Philippe Entremon, Valerij Klimov, Marcus Stoker, Aldo Chiccolini, Ivo Pogorelic, Eliso Virsaladze, Nikolai Orlof,Lydmil Angelov, Mario Brunello,Valentina Igoshina, Natasa Veljkovic, Ksenija Jankovic, Jasminka Stancul, Sreten Krstic, Jovan Kolundzija, Aleksandar Madzar,Kiryl Rodin, Monserrat Caballe, Zinka kunc, Galina Visnjevska, Melanija Bugarinovic, Biserka Cvejic, Ljiljana Molnar Kalajic, Ruza Pospis-Baldani, Aleksandra Ivanovic, Nigel Kennedy, Pjotr Migunov and others.

The Symphony Orchestra had very successful concert tours in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Greece, Romania and Morocco, receiving such flattering reviews.

The orchestra made a great number of recordings, and many of them were published on LP-s and CD-s,made by PGP RTS.
